
3rd Annual International Camel Parade Celebrates Camelids in Paris

Saudi Arabia joins over 30 nations in the 3rd annual International Camel Parade, held in Paris this Saturday. The event celebrates the UN's designation of 2024 as the International Year of Camelids.
Organized by the French Federation for the Development of Camelids and sponsored by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Camel Club, the parade showcases the importance of camels and their relatives – llamas, alpacas, and more.
Global Celebration of Camelids
Over 50 representatives from camel-related organizations worldwide will participate. Breeders, government officials, enthusiasts, and performing artists come together to highlight the cultural and economic significance of camelids.
The United States, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Canada, India, Morocco, Tanzania, Peru, Algeria, the Czech Republic, Pakistan, Tunisia, Austria, Spain, Burundi, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania, France, Sudan, Chad, Angola, the UK and Uganda, join Saudi Arabia in showcasing their unique camel traditions. Saudi representatives will specifically emphasize the long-standing role of camels in their society.
Events Leading Up to the Parade
On Friday, the eve of the parade, the Chateau de Janvry hosted discussions on the global cultural heritage of camelids and the contributions of participating nations.
Following the parade, a reception awaits invited guests, including representatives from participating countries, international organizations, and academia.
Celebrating Camelids for a Sustainable Future
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) declared 2024 as the International Year of Camelids to recognize their contribution to food security and economic development in many regions. This parade serves as a global platform to celebrate these vital animals.
