Louvre Abu Dhabi to Showcase Van Gogh's "The Bedroom" in Upcoming Post-Impressionism Exhibition

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Louvre Abu Dhabi announced today the inclusion of Vincent van Gogh's iconic painting "Bedroom in Arles" in its upcoming exhibition, "Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances." The exhibition, running from October 16, 2024, to February 9, 2025, will explore the artistic movement that emerged from Impressionism and paved the way for 20th-century art.

Van Gogh's masterpiece will be a central attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the artist's life and creative space. Curated by Jean-Remi Touzet (Musée d'Orsay) and Jerome Farigoule (Louvre Abu Dhabi), with support from Aisha Alahmadi, the exhibition delves into the period between 1886 and 1905, a time of significant artistic transformation.

A Period of Artistic Innovation

"Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances" will highlight the artistic experimentation that characterized the post-Impressionist era.  A press release from the Louvre Abu Dhabi describes this period as "a time of immense artistic innovation and experimentation, marking the transition from impressionism to the explosive emergence of the 'fauves' at the Salon d'Automne."

Beyond the West: Showcasing Arab World Masterpieces

The exhibition won't be solely focused on Western art. It will also feature two significant works by French-Egyptian artist Georges Hanna Sabbagh: "The Artist and His Family at La Clarté" (1920) and "The Sabbaghs in Paris" (1921). This inclusion reflects Louvre Abu Dhabi's commitment to showcasing the artistic diversity of the region.
