April 9, 2024 Celeb Scoop
Country music singer Morgan Wallen faces felony charges after allegedly throwing a chair from the rooftop of a popular Nashville bar on Sunday night.
According to a statement released by Wallen's attorney, Worrick Robinson, the singer was arrested for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. Wallen is "fully cooperating with authorities," Robinson said.
Morgan Wallen Throw The Chair From The Sixth Floor
Local news outlet WSMV reported that arrest warrants allege multiple witnesses saw Wallen throw the chair from the sixth floor of Chief's Bar, located on Broadway and owned by fellow country singer Eric Church. The incident occurred around 10:45 pm on Sunday. The chair reportedly landed near two Metro Nashville police officers on the street below.
Police reviewed security footage before arresting Wallen. He was charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. Wallen posted a $15,250 bond and was released around 3:30 am.
Court Date and Tour Schedule
Wallen is scheduled to appear in court on May 3rd, following his performances at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on May 2nd and 3rd.
This arrest comes amidst Wallen's ongoing "One Night at a Time" tour, one of the year's most anticipated. The tour follows the record-breaking success of Wallen's March 2023 album, which topped the Billboard 200 chart for an extended period.
Past Controversy
The incident marks another headline for Wallen, following a 2021 controversy where he was caught using a racial slur. The video led to a temporary suspension by his record label and public backlash. Wallen apologized publicly and entered rehab. He has since made a comeback, winning awards like the Academy of Country Music's Male Artist of the Year in 2023.
Tour Continues
Wallen launched the 2024 leg of his tour on April 4th in Indianapolis after delays last year due to vocal issues. The tour will visit major North American cities before concluding in Las Vegas on August 9th.
