A dramatic scene unfolded at Jesus Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, on Sunday afternoon. Bernard J. Polite, 26, allegedly entered the church during a live-streamed service and attempted to shoot Pastor Glenn Germany.

According to authorities, Polite's firearm malfunctioned and did not discharge. Fortunately, a member of the congregation tackled Polite before he could make another attempt. Pastor Germany and others then subdued him until police arrived.

Court documents reveal that Polite claimed to hear voices instructing him to commit the act. He reportedly entered the church after hearing music and expressed his intention to wait for arrest.

Pastor Germany, shaken but unharmed, expressed his gratitude for the congregation's quick response and his own safety. The church also confirmed Pastor Germany's well-being in a Facebook post, stating his thanks for the outpouring of support.

Separate Incident Under Investigation

Adding another layer to this developing story, police discovered the body of a shooting victim in a North Braddock residence where Polite had been prior to the church incident. The deceased has been identified as Derek Polite, 56, of North Braddock. While authorities haven't confirmed a specific relation between Bernard and Derek Polite, they are investigating a possible connection.

Bernard Polite currently faces charges of aggravated assault and attempted homicide. He is being held without bail, and it's unclear at this time if he has legal representation.
