Red Sea Fashion Week Set to Spotlight Saudi Design Talent on Global Stage
May 8, 2024 Middle East
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – The inaugural Red Sea Fashion Week, kicking off May 16th, aims to showcase the Kingdom's burgeoning fashion scene to a worldwide audience, according to the Saudi Fashion Commission.
Red Sea Fashion Week: a unique platform
Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Commission, emphasized the event's significance: "Red Sea Fashion Week establishes a unique platform to not only celebrate Saudi Arabia's immense creative talent but also solidify our position as a key player in the global fashion arena."
Cakmak further noted the initiative aligns with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia's ambitious economic and social reform plan, by fostering the nation's cultural identity and propelling economic diversification.
The Kingdom's fashion industry onto the global stage
Held at the newly unveiled St. Regis Red Sea Resort, the three-day event (May 16-18) will commence with a grand opening fashion show. Subsequent days will feature a series of runway presentations and events showcasing luxury fashion, jewelry, ready-to-wear collections, and resort wear by both established and emerging Saudi and international designers.
This initiative marks the latest effort by the Saudi Fashion Commission to propel the Kingdom's fashion industry onto the global stage. It follows the successful launch of Saudi Arabia's first fashion week in Riyadh (2023) and a well-received pop-up event held during Milan Fashion Week (2023).
